 Stars: 10 / 10 !!!

Nothing short of   P e r f e c t i o n.

A fascinating and mysterious story, filled with a spectrum of wonder, tragedy, laughter, and love, yet the artwork, alone, is enough to make this film a treasure. The watercolour and charcoal drawings are so beautiful that they made me weep...

I recommend The Tale of Princess Kaguya to everyone who loves contemporary illustration, the beauty of nature, and fairytale stories that make your heart burst.

Just a note: I watched this in the theatre (in Japanese, with French subtitles,) and if it's still playing at a theatre near you: go! It would be a terrible shame to miss this on the big screen, because the visuals really are that awesome!

Director: Isao Takahata

  1. That’s pretty interesting. I had also watched it and must say that the mysterious story was so intriguing that it was able to bind me throughout the end. Our entire family likes to watch such shows and that’s why we have a huge watch list for our weekends. Most of the shows are by Andy Yeatman and they are family friendly.
